A full-size SUV must be ready to handle whatever the modern driver demands of it, and the GMC Yukon is as capable as they come. Its powerful engine performs on the pavement and off the beaten path, and its roomy interior pairs practical features with luxury touches. It’s equally suited to hauling groceries and towing trailers, an all-purpose vehicle through and through.
The Yukon can be a family car or a weekend adventurer, a casual cruiser or a workhorse. It all depends on the driver. You can take the kids to school or tow a boat out to the lake, and enjoy a smooth drive no matter where you’re headed.

The Yukon’s most recent updates build upon its established versatility. It now comes with a low-speed automatic emergency brake and Teen Driver safety tech, which helps learning drivers develop safe driving behavior. The Denali trim also sports a 10-speed automatic transmission for better shifting.
The Yukon is great for excursions with family and friends, and the fine interior can seat eight, be they adults or children. All of the second row’s seats also provide LATCH child seat connectors, and the third row has tether connections. While premium cloth upholstery comes standard, leather seats and heated seats are also available. Drivers may opt for the available Active Noise Cancellation feature, which keeps the music you’re listening to and the cabin conversation free from outside interruptions.
The 2019 Yukon is loaded with convenient technological features, including a Bose sound system, satellite radio, voice recognition, and W-Fi hot spot among others. Drivers may choose from a host of available features like wireless device charging, rear seat DVD system, and navigation system.
GMC has also stocked the Yukon with standard safety features including front and rear parking sensors, rearview camera, and Teen Driver. Available features include blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and more.
There are two powertrains available for the Yukon, a 5.3-liter V8 paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, and a 6.2-liter V8 with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Yukon delivers an easy ride for all that power under the hood, and GMC offers an available Magnetic Ride Control adaptive suspension to mitigate bumps in the road.
GMC introduced the Yukon in 1993 as a large, two-door SUV. In 1995, it was reimagined as the four-door Jimmy, but returned in 1998 with a V8 engine providing 255 horsepower and 33 pounds per foot of torque. It released with new trims in 1999, and sported aluminum wheels. By the year 2000, it was time for a redesign, and the next Yukon was thoroughly reshaped and re-engineered.
The Yukon saw steady improvements over the next decade, including a more powerful engine in 2007 and a six-speed transmission in 2009, plus a transition from analog features to digital media. The engine was upgraded once again in 2015, this time with the Ecotec3. GMC also added noise-reducing features to keep the cabin calm and quiet.
